@controlcritters The Sweeney company sent mus some of their all natural deer, snake, and small animal repellent to test out and this is our review. I am not someone who likes to kill animals even if they are eating my flowers and vegetables. However, a repellent sounded okay.
When I received the Sweeney products I was surprised. I didn’t even realize all natural repellents were out there.
The Deer Repellent is Weatherproof because it is in a plastic container. You place these containers throughout the parameter of your garden. You can hang them with the hole in the top and a string, or use the included stakes to push them into the ground.
A single application in the Spring protects sprouting plants and new growth for the entire growing season.
The repellent (in this case, dried blood) does not come in contact with leaves or fruit. Dried blood is recognized as the leading deer repellent in university studies and field trials by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. It triggers the flight response in deer. Safe to use around children and pets. The repellent is continuously released from repellent station, triggering a deer’s instinct to avoid predator activity. Read more
The Snake and Small Animal Repellent is in a shaker container. When you place it around your yard it emits a sweet, pungent aroma that snakes and small animals like cats, dogs, squirrels and rabbits find distasteful, causing them to leave the area.
Animals rely on their keen senses of smell and taste to detect predators, territories of other animals, or if the food in front of them is safe to eat. Sweeney’s Animal Repellents target these two senses.
The packaging actually has a nice diagram to show you where to put the repellent for the best results.
The granules in the Sweeneys small animal and snake repellents have things like Clove oil, Citronella oil, Cedar oil, Castor oil, whole egg solids, Cinnamon, dried blood, and white peppers. The ingredients vary based on the product but they are still all natural no matter which you choose to use.
